Thailand’s cabinet has approved a draft “lemon law” proposed by the Office of the Consumer Protection Board. The bill would be submitted to parliament and is intended to protect buyers who purchase faulty goods, addressing remedies when products repeatedly fail or are defective.
If enacted, a Thai lemon-law framework could strengthen consumers’ rights to refunds/repairs for defective devices, potentially overlapping with (and limiting) how AppleCare+ handles outcomes for hardware defects. Apple would likely need to ensure its AppleCare+ terms, exclusions, and dispute/repair processes align with any mandatory consumer remedies, and AppleCare+ marketing may need to clearly differentiate standard statutory rights from service-plan benefits.
