Thailand Lemon Law 2026: What Businesses Must Know
On 16 June 2026, Thailand’s Cabinet approved a draft “Liability for Defective Goods Act” (often discussed as a “lemon law”), proposed by the Office of the Consumer Protection Board, and sent it forward for further steps. The draft focuses on business liability when goods are defective, typically including remedies such as repair, replacement, or refunds for nonconforming products.
If enacted or substantially finalized as described, this could strengthen consumer remedies for defective consumer goods, potentially increasing sellers’ and manufacturers’ (or their service partners’) obligations and making warranty/defect handling more regulated.
