New York City Proposes Nation's First Municipal Click-to-Cancel Rule
New York City is proposing a municipal “click-to-cancel” rule for subscriptions, requiring subscription businesses to let customers cancel through an online process that is as easy and accessible as the sign-up process. The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) will review public feedback before finalizing the rule.
If adopted, the rule could affect AppleCare+ only insofar as it is sold or managed as an ongoing subscription or add-on plan that customers can purchase online and then must be canceled digitally.
